The FCTS members had another opportunity to discuss research ideas and future collaboration with Dr. Foster at UC-Davis on March 10th. Dr. Samuta, director of the FCTS, briefly presented his research to stimulate our discussion, introducing the ideas of implication process (i.e., process of making meanings of objects and events) to define locality. The discussion was centered around ‘authenticity’ of culture – how to define, identify, and measure. Dr. Foster suggested searching ‘locality’ to be an accessible approach to understanding the phenomena and elements that make up culture. We hope that some exciting joint research will emerge and grow in near future.
